Emilia Clarke’s Most Scandalous Scenes on ‘Game of Thrones’

It’s fair to say that Game of Thrones ended up being a divisive show. The final season, and especially the final episode, had many fans wondering why they’d spent so much time and energy as fans. Others, though, thought the series came to a perfect conclusion.

One thing that nobody is really divided on, though, is the performance of Emilia Clarke. As Daenerys Targaryen (who also goes by fancy titles like Khaleesi and the Mother of Dragons), she showcased her character growing from a scared young girl into a force of nature who would eventually threaten the entire world.

What else did she showcase? Quite a bit of skin and sex appeal! She helped make Game of Thrones into a downright scandalous hit show. And to help celebrate both her and the show, we have rounded up her most scandalous scenes!

Doreah teaches Daenerys the “womanly arts of love” (Season 1, Episode 2)

Daenerys is a virgin when she marries Khal Drogo. And she is dismayed a bit by the rough sex in which Drogo thinks he must always take control.

To help solve this issue, Dany consults with a handmaiden called Doreah who shows her the finer points of taking control in bed. While these two don’t actually have sex, the chemistry and connection between Daenerys and Doreah are palpable. And in the very same episode, we get to see Dany put these sexual lessons to use with Khal Drago right away.

Daenerys on top (Season 1, Episode 2)

Throughout the series, we see that Daenerys is a quick learner. And having learned a few special lessons about sex, she puts these lessons to good use next time she and Khal Drogo have some private time together.

When Khal tries to take control, Dany flips the script and shows Khal Drogo how satisfying it can be when his bride is on top. And from the look on his face, Drogo is very, very satisfied! After watching this scene, we won’t blame you if you need to go take a cold shower.

Mother of Dragons (Season 1,  Episode 10)

The first season is an emotional rollercoaster for Daenerys. She reluctantly marries Khal Drogo (played by the yummy Jason Momoa) and is gifted seemingly dormant dragon eggs. When Drogo is severely wounded and she gets the help of dark magic to save his life, her powerful husband is left alive but braindead.

Not wanting to see him live like this, she suffocates Drogo. When his tribe burns his body, Daenerys brings her eggs into the fire. Everyone assumes she will die, but she emerges naked and unscathed and with three baby dragons. When it comes to scalding scenes, this one is hot… quite literally!

Naked conversation (Season 3, Episode 8)

Part of what we loved about Emilia Clarke’s performance in the show is that she helped redefine what “sexy” meant. For example, Dany and audiences alike eventually learned how sexy a strong and confident woman could be!

In this episode, Daenerys meets Daario, a skilled warrior who was hired to kill her. Instead, he kills the men who gave the order and pledges his service. And despite being confronted by a trained killer in her bathtub, Dany is perfectly confident in the conversation, eventually standing naked before Daario as she puts him in his place.

“Do what you do best” (Season 4, Episode 7)

Despite the show randomly changing his actor from Ed Skrein to Michiel Huisman, Daario plays a major role in the show after he is introduced. And this is the episode where he and Daenerys finally become lovers.

The scene starts awkwardly, with Dany berating him for bringing her flowers and his insistence on winning her affections. And it seems like she is all business when discussing his pledge of loyalty to her, with Daario eventually noting that killing others is what he does best.

Eventually, Dany tells him to go on and “do what you do best.” When Daario doesn’t immediately get the clue, Dany tells him to take off his clothes. If that’s not scandalous enough, the scene ends with audiences staring at Daario’s butt while Dany lovingly ogles his, um, “sword.”

Daenerys and Daario go at it (Season 5, Episode 7)

Game of Thrones was such a dominant cultural force that it helped make new expressions popular. And one of those expressions was “sexposition.” This was the tongue-in-cheek term fans used for the show combining scenes of heavy exposition and dialogue with sex and nudity.

In this scene, Daenerys and Daario discuss some heavy matters. She is supposed to marry Hizdahr zo Loraq to secure her position as the Queen of Mereen. Meanwhile, Daario suggests that she marry him and points out that if she can’t marry who she wants to, she is the only one in the city that isn’t free.

We’ll forgive you if you don’t remember any of that dialogue, though. It’s hard to pay attention when these pretty characters are fooling around in bed!

Burning it all down (Season 6, Episode 4)

Part of what makes Daenerys such a threat to Westeros is that she has Dothraki warriors under her command. And this episode explains the insane way that she makes this happen.

Dany is brought to Vaes Dothrak to be judged by the Dothraki elders. These are real charmers, and some of them threaten to rape her. At this point, Dany initiates her plan and tips over some burning braziers. As expected, this sets the temple on fire and burns everyone in it to death.

Well, almost everyone. Daenerys counted on the fact that she is fireproof (a side effect of her Targaeryn heritage). And bringing the show full circle, she once again emerges naked and strong from the fire. Only now, she has an entire army bowing down to her.

Daenerys and Jon Snow hook up (Season 7, Episode 7)

Incestuous sex has been at the heart of Game of Thrones from the very beginning. After all, the events that catapult the show into motion occur when Jaimie Lannister tries to kill Bran Stark when he discovers Jaimie having sex with his own sister, Cersei Lannister.

Still, it was no less shocking when we finally see Daenerys and Jon Snow get down and dirty. The scene is undeniably hot, but even as these two consummate their relationship, audiences discover that Jon Snow is not actually the illegitimate son of Ned Stark. Instead, he is the son of Rhaegar Targaryen and Ned Stark’s sister, Lyanna Stark.

This tangled family tree means that Jon is actually Dany’s nephew. And that revelation made this into one sex scene we couldn’t tear our eyes away from!
