What if a new player in the Royal Family’s feud with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry decided to take things to the next level?
For years, Kate Middleton has been seen as the voice of reason, first in Prince William’s feud with Harry and then in the entire family’s feud with Harry and Meghan post-”Megxit.” And publicly, Kate has mostly kept her own counsel as those two continued to lob major criticisms against the Royal Family from the relative safety of America.
Now, though, a source is saying Kate is ready to take this feud to the next level, and she may just have enough fire to end it altogether. What did the source say, exactly, and what does this mean for the future of the Royal Family? Keep reading to find out!
The origins of the feud
Because Kate Middleton and most of the Royal Family that aren’t named Harry or Meghan are pretty good at the whole “stiff upper lip” thing, it can be difficult to trace the origins of Kate’s beef with Harry and Meghan. However, it looks like it all likely started well before Harry and Meghan ended up getting married.
According to InTouch Weekly, Katie Nicholl likely got to the origins of this feud in the documentary Kate v. Meghan: Princesses at War? In that documentary, she revealed that this all started in 2016 when William thought Harry was moving too fast with his girlfriend. “William was quite concerned that the relationship had moved so quickly. And being close to Harry, probably the one person close enough to say to Harry, ‘This seems to be moving quickly, are you sure?’”
That was enough to kick off a war between brothers that has lasted until this day. Kate seemingly sided with her husband against Meghan, and this led to the earliest known tiff between these two women.

An early case of “she said/she said”
In the lead-up to Harry and Meghan’s wedding in 2018, there was no shortage of drama. And at the height of this drama, news broke that Meghan Markle made Kate Middleton cry during a fitting for Charlotte’s flower girl dress. Accordingly, this led to countless headlines about Meghan Markle being a terrible prima donna that had the temerity to make the future Queen of England cry before she had even officially joined the family.
Later, after Megxit, Harry and Meghan gave a bombshell interview to Oprah Winfrey. As reported by Harper’s Bazaar, Meghan claimed in this interview that it was actually Kate that made her cry and not the other way around. But she insisted during the interview that the two mended fences: “she was upset about something. But she owned it, and she apologized, and she brought me flowers and a note apologizing.”
If this is true, we can’t help but wonder if Kate had a hand in the earlier story leaking out that conveniently made Meghan look bad ahead of her own wedding. While he never named names, this would be in line with Harry’s suspicions that the Royal Family had often used the media to pit people against his wife.
Harry and Meghan’s continued cascade of criticisms against royals
We can’t imagine Kate was a big fan of that infamous Oprah interview, especially because it led to Prince William almost immediately getting in front of a camera to refute Harry and Meghan’s implications that the Royal Family is racist.
That interview aired plenty of royal dirt, including claims about King Charles cutting Harry off and the Royal Family being dismissive of Meghan’s mental health. After that, the disruptive duo just kept leaking details to make the royals look bad. As the Guardian reports, this includes many details in Harry’s memoir Spare, including one alleged incident in 2019 where William called Meghan “difficult” and “rude” and “abrasive,” resulting in an actual physical altercation where William bodily grabbed his brother and knocked him to the floor.
During all of this, Kate Middleton mostly managed to stay out of the fray. Now, though, one source claims she’s ready to give Harry and Meghan a thrashing fiercer than anything William ever did.

Kate Middleton is now ready to take the gloves off in this feud
A source close to the Royal Family recently confided in Closer that Kate Middleton is getting ready to take her feud with Meghan and Harry to the next level. The source believes that all of this criticism coming from Meghan and Harry is due to Meghan wanting to play “power games” but that she is tempting fate by tempting Kate. “Meghan needs to be extremely careful with these power games because Kate won’t hesitate to keep sticking up for the royals as well as herself.”
One bit of evidence for this is that Kate allegedly voiced the opinion that Valentine Low’s book Courtiers: The Hidden Power Behind The Crown, insisting via a palace source that the book needs firmer language in order to “show Meghan and Harry that the royals would not remain silent in the face of the serious allegations – including those of bullying and racism – they had made.”
The source believes this is evidence that Kate has previously shown “shown an incredible amount of tolerance and bitten her lip but even she can only be pushed so far.” Furthermore, she’s “more than willing” to fight “fire with fire” at the expense of her own popularity. And that could be bad news for Harry and Meghan, both of whom are still reeling after losing their Spotify show and being brutally branded as grifters by a producer.
