We have noted before that Meghan Markle is one of the most divisive celebrities and certainly one of the most divisive royals in history. By ditching her royal responsibilities and ultimately bringing Prince Harry to start a new life in America, she won a lot of fans who are critical of the Royal Family. At the same time, she made a lot of enemies with her decisions, both within the Royal Family and without.
Right now, things look pretty comfortable for Meghan: she and Harry are starting their own media empire, living in luxury, and looking happier than ever before. But all of that could change pretty soon because there are some powerful people who dislike Meghan. And here is a roundup of the powerful figures who may be coming for her in 2022.
Piers Morgan
Meghan’s enemies mostly have one thing in common: they used to be fans before things went sour. And that is seemingly the case with bloviating media personality Piers Morgan.
According to The U.S. Sun, Meghan was scheduled to have drinks with Piers while visiting London in 2016. But after she met Prince Harry that night, Morgan “never heard from her again.” Perhaps because of this, he gave her unflattering labels such as “ruthless social climbing actress” and “hypocrite” in recent years.
Things got weirder, though, after Meghan and Harry’s interview with Oprah. This prompted Morgan to tweet, “This interview is an absolutely disgraceful betrayal of the Queen and the Royal Family. I expect all this vile destructive self-serving nonsense from Meghan Markle — but for Harry to let her take down his family and the Monarchy like this is shameful.”
Later, Morgan left Good Morning Britain (or, more likely, was asked to leave) after making claims that Meghan was lying about her mental health struggles. In other words, his grudge against Meghan is likely worse than it ever has been, so who knows what he will do in 2022.

Prince Charles
Prince Charles is one of the most powerful people in the world. He is also Meghan’s father-in-law. Due to both of these positions, he could make life very easy or very, very hard on the young royal.
Unfortunately, it looks like she is currently on Charles’ bad side for many reasons. This arguably started when, according to the Daily Beast, texts leaked revealing that Meghan only reached out to Thomas Markle so that Charles would ease up on Harry. “By taking this form of action I protect my husband from this constant berating,” she texted. “And while unlikely perhaps it will give my father a moment to pause.”
More explosively, Page Six claims that when Meghan told Oprah a senior royal was concerned about her unborn child’s skin color, that royal was allegedly Charles. And even before that interview, Charles had decided to financially cut them off once they decided to leave the country!
Thomas Markle
It’s bad enough that Meghan has to watch out for her father-in-law. However, she also has to worry about what her biological father, Thomas Markle, is going to do next.
Previously, Thomas nearly ruined Meghan’s wedding by posing for paparazzi photos. Later, Meghan wrote him a letter to try to smooth out their deteriorating relationship, and he leaked portions of the letter to the press. This led to a long and bitter legal battle between Meghan and the tabloids.
That wasn’t the end of it, though. Thomas also made appearances on Good Morning Britain. And as Newsweek reports, he said that he would “do a show at least a month, if I can get it through, and eventually sooner or later she’ll start talking to me. This is way too childish; this is kind of silly, it’s time to talk with each other, we’re family.”
Given that he is explicitly promising to keep popping up in the press, Thomas may be a force to be reckoned with in the future.

Prince William
When you get married, you agree with your spouse “What’s mine is yours and what’s yours is mine.” Unfortunately for Meghan, this also includes family grudges!
Relations between Prince Harry and his brother, Prince William, have been strained in recent years. And depending on who you talk to, Meghan was always involved in this. Fox News claims that William warned Harry about rushing into things with Meghan, which affected their relationship.
Later, StyleCaster reported alleged rumors that William and Kate Middleton were feeding negative stories about Meghan to the press. There was a theory that William was getting close to the press, feeding them stories, and that is why his alleged affair with Rose Hanbury received relatively low coverage. While there is no evidence that William or Kate fed stories about Meghan to the press, it’s worth remembering that Meghan Markle told Oprah that relentlessly negative tabloid coverage nearly drove her to suicide. The British press being on William’s side and against Meghan is not good for her.
Kate Middleton
Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle have seemingly been at odds for a few years now. And there is no reason to believe this is going to change in 2022.
We first heard about a tiff between these two when there were headlines about Meghan making Kate cry leading up to Meghan’s wedding. Later, Meghan told Oprah the reverse was true and that it was Kate that made her cry. This may be one of those examples of William and Kate allegedly helping manipulate headlines against Meghan.
While Kate is normally tight-lipped about these things, She Knows reported on the contents of a now-deleted Instagram video in November 2021. In it, a student asked Kate about Meghan and Harry. This caused Kate to visibly roll her eyes and rhetorically ask, “What else?”

Camilla Parker Bowles
There seems to be no love lost between Prince Charles and Meghan. It should be no surprise, then, that relations with Camilla Parker Bowles are equally chilly.
According to insiders quoted by Mirror, this all started when Meghan released a picture of herself at a theater event. This upstaged Camilla’s speech about domestic violence, leaving the senior royal feeling “furious” and “very upset.”
Later, after Meghan and Harry’s notorious interview with Oprah, The Telegraph reports that Camilla blamed the disintegrating relationship between Charles and Harry on Meghan alone, writing that “I don’t think the Duchess will ever forgive Meghan for what she’s done to the Prince of Wales.”
Samantha Markle
Samantha Markle is Meghan’s half-sister. And she seems to have been at Meghan’s throat for a good, long time.
Us Weekly reports that after Thomas Markle had a heart attack, Samantha claims that the Royal Family wanted to help him and that Meghan kept that from happening. In the meantime, Samantha cashed in on their relationship by publishing a book called The Diary of Princess Pushy’s Sister Part 1 that claimed Meghan was a pushy and spoiled child.
Publicly, Meghan never lashed out against Samantha. But as Showbiz CheatSheet reports, some of Meghan’s leaked texts to her former press secretary mentioned how to best go after Samantha: they need only mention that the half-sister “lost custody of all three of her children from different fathers.”
Considering that Express reported that Samantha was planning a defamation lawsuit, and that she has only released “Part 1” of her book, she may be a threat to Meghan in the future.

Princess Michael of Kent
Princess Michael of Kent may be the least-famous royal on this list. However, she has her own ax to grind with Meghan Markle, just as her more famous fellow royals do.
It all started with a decorative brooch. The princess was already considered racist after a notorious moment in 2004 when she allegedly told Black New York City diners to “go back to the colonies” (via New York Post). Years later, Harper’s Bazaar reports that she wore a brooch with a slave caricature on it to the Christmas Luncheon at Buckingham Palace in 2017.
She later apologized for the offense she caused, but the damage was done. As the Evening Standard reports, the book Finding Freedom (which is all about Harry and Meghan leaving England) included a passage describing how Meghan “wondered if there wasn’t a message being sent in the pin of the torso of an African man wearing a gold turban and ornate clothing.”
Given the racism that Meghan felt from other quarters of the Royal Family, it’s not surprising that she found this brooch in bad taste. And since the princess is one of many royals Meghan has belatedly embarrassed with her criticism, she may try to make life harder for Meghan in the future.
