Admit it: it’s hard to think about Prince William with any woman other than Kate Middleton.
William and Kate had a whirlwind (and occasionally turbulent) romance before getting married in 2011. Since then, they have been the portrait of royal marital bliss. And we’d expect nothing of the future King and Queen Consort of England.
However, both of them dated plenty of people before finding each other. Prince William, in particular, played the field far and wide. And we couldn’t help but wonder what his ex-girlfriends are up to now that William has been out of the picture so long.
How did these exes find their own “happily ever after” without William? Let’s find out!
Arabella Musgrave
Prince William famously met Kate Middleton while both of them were attending St. Andrews University. But before William ever went to that prestigious school, he dated a woman named Arabella Musgrave.
They may have split before William’s college days, but he remained quite fond of her. Katie Nicholl’s book The Making of a Royal Romance mentions they stayed in touch when William attended school in Scotland. And since William had a rough go of college at first, it was good he had someone to confide in…at least, before he met Kate.
What is Arabella up to these days? According to Vogue, she rocked a Gucci dress while marrying George Galliers-Pratt. Call her a brand ambassador: speaking of Gucci, she serves as the Head of Communications in North Europe. You go, girl!

Carly Massy-Birch
William may have found Kate in college, but she wasn’t the first woman he dated. He also dated Carly Massy-Birch. And once William began dating Kate on the “down low,” his ex found a way to make things supremely awkward for the prince.
According to Express, Prince William was playing “Never Have I Ever” (no, really) along with Kate, Carly, and other friends. Carly was privy to the well-kept secret that William and Kate were dating. So when it was her turn, she said “I’ve never dated two people in this room.” Her intention was to out the two secret lovebirds, causing William to reportedly whisper to her “I can’t believe you just said that.” And this may have driven a temporary wedge between William and Kate (the latter of whom was already suspicious that William lived so close to his ex-girlfriend).
Still, all’s well that ends well. The Daily Mail reports that the trio ended up being best friends for the remainder of college. And in an amusing twist, Massy-Birch has now become very reclusive herself, though there are rumors she is now happily married herself.
Olivia Hunt
As we noted before, Prince William dated other women before he began dating Kate Middleton. But who did he date directly before his romance with Kate? That would be Olivia Hunt!
By all accounts, this was a short-lived relationship. A source familiar with their romance told the Daily Mail that “William was seeing Olivia when he met Kate and when Kate came on the scene Olivia moved off pretty quickly.” But William and Olivia apparently remained good friends considering that she got an invite to William and Kate’s wedding.
Later, Olivia repaid the favor. She ended up returning the favor by inviting William and Kate to her own wedding where she married Nicholas Wilkinson. The future King and Queen of England couldn’t make it to that special day, but by chance, they were later all in attendance at Pippa Middleton’s wedding ceremony. We like to think they had quite the reunion while there!

Jecca Craig
Prince William loves world travel, and his travels have often changed his life. One example of this is the trip he took to Kenya in 2000. That was when he met Jecca Craig, a conservationist and animal activist. Her father is the owner of the conservation ranch Lewa Downs, and William met Jecca when he visited the ranch. The two young people hit it off and began a brief relationship together.
While their romance was short-lived, they appeared to part on good terms. When Craig married fellow conservationist Jonathan Baillie in 2016, The Telegraph reports that William was in attendance. Considering that the wedding was at Lewa Downes, this must have brought back many memories for Prince William.
Rose Farquhar
Prince William dated Rose Farquhar shortly after he finished his education at Eton College. According to Katie Nicholl’s book William and Harry: Behind the Palace Walls, a source close to the two said that they had an “innocent” relationship. And even after that relationship was over, “They are still good friends and speak all the time.”
Later, Farquhar focused on her musical career more than her romance. She auditioned for The Voice in 2016, offering an impressive cover of “Anyone Who Had a Heart.” But it wasn’t enough to impress the judges, which included big names like Boy George and will.i.am. She didn’t make it to the next round, but The Mirror reports that she kept a good attitude about the whole thing. “I feel completely gutted, but really proud and glad that, you know, I got the opportunity,”
In terms of music, she does more than covers. You can still check out some of her original content on Soundcloud!

Davina Duckworth-Chad
One of Prince William’s more eyebrow-raising former relationships was with Davina Duckworth-Chad. That is because she isn’t just an ex: she’s related to William because she is the second cousin to his mother, Princess Diana!
The thought may sound icky to some, but she truly is a distant cousin, and royalty keeping things “in the family” isn’t that uncommon. According to the Daily Mail, William and his second cousin took a romantic cruise out to the Aegean Sea. Prince Charles and Camilla were also onboard, which the tabloid reports gave William the “cover” he needed to invite “lots of pretty girls” to his own personal “love boat.”
Things didn’t work out for them as a couple, but things worked out fine for Duckworth-Chad. This old money daughter ended up marrying Tom Barber, and they now have two lovely girls together. And unlike the days when she briefly dated the future King of England, Duckworth-Chad now enjoys a very quiet and very private life.
