The name Lauren Boebert is one that often elicits a long sigh, regardless of a person’s politics. Once upon a time, she was a MAGA darling, and she seemed like exactly what the conservative movement needed: she was young, strong, and charismatic, effectively representing the future of Republicanism. Unfortunately, she has made a number of high-profile blunders that have turned her into something of a joke. After her latest mistake, however, nobody is laughing.
You see, Boebert saw fit to insert herself into a scandal involving Bill and Hillary Clinton. And she ended up leaking a photo as a way of currying favor among her followers. Unfortunately (for her), the leak ended up making her into a laughingstock, all while giving the Clintons ammunition to use against Donald Trump. Just what did Boebert do? A history of weird controversies
Before we get to the latest scandal, it’s worth emphasizing the simple fact that Lauren Boebert is a controversy magnet. Before she became a politician, she attacked her boyfriend in a drunken brawl, resulting in her getting charged with underage drinking and third-degree assault. After she joined Congress, Boebert got into a shouting match with fellow conservative Marjorie Taylor Greene. She also made tweets during the January 6th attack on the Capitol about where Nancy Pelosi was, making some think she was helping the attackers target her political enemies.
Strangely enough, all of that paled in comparison to an incident involving the “ghost with the most,” Beetlejuice. In 2023, she went to a production of the Beetlejuice play with a man named Quinn Gallagher. Rather than sitting back and enjoying the show, though, she spent her time vaping, recording the play, obnoxiously singing along, and outright groping her date. All of this was caught on video, and the two were eventually asked to leave, with Boebert (always a class act) flipping a theatre worker off as she was escorted out.

Here comes the Clintons
As you can tell, Lauren Boebert has a long history of weird and often baffling controversies. For better or for worse, though, these incidents never really affected her politically. That might have changed with a recent incident, though, in which she leaked a picture from a deposition. And not just any deposition, but one featuring Hillary Clinton!
You see, Bill and Hillary Clinton were summoned in front of Congress to detail everything they knew about deceased sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein. Notably, the Clintons kept fighting to offer their testimony live so that all of America could see exactly what they had to say. However, Oversight Committee chairman James Comer successfully fought to keep their testimony behind closed doors.
It’s not entirely clear why keeping the Clintons’ depositions private was so important to those running this committee. One thing is clear, though: Lauren Boebert completely blew it when she inexplicably leaked a photo of Hillary Clinton during her deposition!
Lauren Boebert just gave Bill and Hillary Clinton what they needed
For reasons we can’t even fathom, Lauren Boebert took a picture of Hillary Clinton while she was speaking to the Oversight Committee. She then sent it to the right-wing influencer Benny Johnson, who posted the picture online. There was no confusion about who sent it: not only did Boebert make sure that her placard was highly visible, but Johnson gave her direct credit when sharing the image!
It didn’t take long for Clinton to find out what had happened, and this brought the deposition to a grinding halt. Clinton also had the ultimate moral high ground here: after she fought to make the deposition public, her conservative rivals forced the whole thing to happen behind closed doors. Now, she gets to stop (at least, temporarily) speaking, and the reason for it is that one of the most prominent Republicans is breaking the rules her own party insisted on!
No matter how you look at it, that makes Clinton look good and Boebert look bad. And that means the influential young firebrand just played right into the older woman’s hands.

Could this be the end of Lauren Boebert’s career?
That brings us to one last question: could this be the controversy that ends Lauren Boebert’s career? On the one hand, she has survived plenty of other scandals without losing much in the way of political support. Because of this, you might think that her career will be just fine.
On the other hand, most of Boebert’s other scandals did nothing more than make her look bad. This latest gaffe makes the entire Republican party look bad while making Hillary Clinton (one of their most hated rivals) look like the good guy. If this generates enough bad press, she may lose key allies and ultimately remove herself from politics, just like her one-time rival, Marjorie Taylor Greene.
