On Valentine’s Day, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced that Meghan is pregnant with their second child.
At the time, a spokesperson for the couple said, “We can confirm that Archie is going to be a big brother. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are overjoyed to be expecting their second child.”
The happy news came following Meghan’s announcement the previous November that she had suffered a miscarriage in July 2020. “Losing a child means carrying an almost unbearable grief, experienced by many but talked about by few,” she wrote in an op-ed for The New York Times.
Now that Meghan, 39, is pregnant again, she is prioritizing her health for the sake of royal baby no. 2. She “does yoga every day,” a source told Us Weekly, sometimes twice a day. “It’s what keeps her healthy both physically and mentally during the pregnancy.”
Meghan has been open about her previous struggles with mental health, revealing in her and Harry’s CBS interview with Oprah in March that the scrutiny from the media had led to suicidal thoughts. “I share this because there’s so many people who are afraid to voice that they need help,” she said at the time.
Whether because of the yoga or not, Meghan is reportedly finding this pregnancy physically easier than her previous one. “This pregnancy has been a little easier than the last in terms of less morning sickness,” the source told Us Weekly. “Meghan is feeling much better this time around.”
And despite some fierce cravings, Meghan is committed to eating healthy during her pregnancy. “Meghan had been craving pasta but she’s been eating super clean (and trying her best to avoid gluten),” the insider said, adding that she “is a big fruit eater and eats all organic only.”
Meghan’s commitment to a healthy pregnancy is the reason why she was noticeably absent from Prince Philip’s funeral in England on April 17. “Meghan wishes she could have flown to the U.K. to support her husband but has been advised not to due to her pregnancy,” a source told E! News. “Harry wants to make sure Meghan and the baby are healthy and not involved in stressful situations.”
As for the gender of the baby, Harry, 36, revealed it’s a girl in their interview with Oprah. “Just to have a boy and a girl, what more can we ask for? We’ve got our family,” he said.
There is even a clue that Meghan already has a name in mind for the baby girl. In a 2015 interview with Hello! Magazine, she revealed her plans to give a watch to her daughter “one day,” which she had engraved “To M.M. From M.M.”
In the meantime, Meghan and Harry are focusing on a healthy pregnancy while raising their son Archie, who turns two years old on May 6.
