There always seems to be some tension between Prince Harry and the rest of the Royal Family. There are many reasons for this, but one of them is that the rest of the family has perfected the British “stiff upper lip.” They rarely talk about private matters or family matters. As for Harry, though, he never has trouble dishing about private matters and family matters to the entire world!
The most notorious example of that is the bombshell interview he and Meghan gave to Oprah Winfrey. More recently, Harry gave another interview on the Today show. And while this interview is less likely to get Harry a cold shoulder from his brother, he still drops a surprising amount of tea about himself, his wife, and the rest of the family.
What were the biggest revelations from this interview? Let’s find out!
Secret visit to the Queen
Ever since Harry and Meghan stepped back from royal responsibilities and left England altogether, they had not seen the Queen in person. Eventually, many pundits expressed concerns over this, pointing out that Elizabeth hadn’t gotten to meet Harry and Meghan’s youngest child, Lilibet, who was named after Queen Elizabeth (it was her childhood nickname).
This is why it was so surprising when Harry revealed that he had secretly met with the Queen. As the Daily Mail reports, Harry casually mentioned that “Being with her, it was great. It was just so nice to see her. You know, she’s on great form. She has always got a great sense of humor with me.” He also threw in that it was “it was really nice to catch up with her.”

America is home now
It’s tough not to see Prince Harry as a man trapped between worlds. He is a British prince by blood, but he’s married to an American celebrity and now lives full-time in America. At some point, it’s fair for his fans to wonder: in his heart, where does Harry consider his home?
For the moment, the answer seems to be America! As the Daily Mail reports, Harry said that “home for me now is, you know, for the time being, it’s in the States.” When Today host Hoda Kotb asked if it was weird to call his Santa Barbara neighborhood “home,” Harry instantly replied, “No. But I’m sure it will become a thing.”
How he and Meghan define “service”
At another point in the interview, Hoda mentioned how drastically Harry had changed his life. According to the Daily Mail, she mentioned that Harry “got a whole restart. You have a whole new focus, a whole new nucleus.” She then asked the big question: “How does that land with you?”
Harry responded, “I think the focus is very much the same.” Sensing the need to elaborate, the prince added, “’Yeah, certainly. From my wife’s point of view. For the two of us, this is a life she signed up for and we were committed to doing this together as a couple forever. Because of the circumstances, we’ve now moved that life of service to the States and we’ll continue doing what we were doing before. So in that regard, nothing’s has changed for us. It is just a little bit more complicated to have to sort of restart.”
This also serves as a gentle rebuke to those criticizing Harry and Meghan for not serving England as they once did. It appears Harry feels called to serve on a more global level and is happy to do so wherever he happens to live.

Missing the family
Given all of the seeming drama surrounding the Royal Family, some have told Harry they can understand why he wanted to move away from them. However, Harry wasted no time in the interview declaring how much he misses the rest of his family.
According to the Daily Mail, when Hoda asked if Harry missed his family, he replied while also referencing the COVID-19 pandemic. “Yes. I think especially over the last two years, for most people, have they not missed their family? The ability to even get home and see them? Of course. That’s — you know, that’s a huge part of it.”
He also talked about his need to properly compartmentalize. When it comes to Harry’s Invictus Games, “I’m here focused on these guys and these families and giving everything that I can, 120 per cent to them to make sure they have the experience of a lifetime. That’s my focus here.” However, “when I leave here, I get back and my focus is on my family who I miss massively.”
All about the kids
Harry may miss his extended family, but he has no trouble focusing on the family right in front of him. These days, that mostly means focusing on his young children. And this came up when Hoda asked Harry what a typical Wednesday was like for him.
As the Daily Mail reports, Harry said, “’What’s a Wednesday like? It revolves around the kids as much as humanly possible. This whole working from home stuff is not all it’s cracked up to be, certainly post-Covid. Because it is really hard when your kids and you are in the same place.” Continuing, he said that “It is really hard to separate the work from them. Because they kind of overlap. So I mean Archie spends more time interrupting our Zoom calls than anybody else. But he also gets us off them as well, so that’s also a nice thing.”
Kids: a bit much to handle, even for the rich and famous!

The Diana connection
Perhaps the most bittersweet part of the interview came when Hoda asked Harry about his mother, Princess Diana. Specifically, he asked Harry if he ever felt his mother’s presence when he sees her photos around their home.
According to the Daily Mail, Harry replied, “For me, it is constant. It has been over the last two years. More so than ever before…now, I feel her presence in almost everything that I do now. But definitely more so in the last two years than ever before. Without question. So she’s watching over us.”
Harry can rest assured that he is carrying on Diana’s important legacy and revitalizing it for a brand new generation.
