20 Years Later: What the Cast of ‘Lizzie McGuire’ Looks Like Now

Where has the time gone? It’s actually been over 20 years since the premiere of Lizzie McGuire on the Disney Channel. The show was a pop culture sensation and helped to propel Hilary Duff and her young colleagues into genuine Hollywood stars.

But where are they now? What have they been doing? And most importantly: what do they look like now?

We’ve got the full story on what the Lizzie McGuire cast now looks like and what they’ve been doing most recently.

Hilary Duff

Hilary Duff portrayed the title character Lizzie McGuire. And she has arguably had the most success in Hollywood since she first brought that character to life.

For example, she was in several major movies, including A Cinderella Story, Cheaper By the Dozen, and Agent Cody Banks. And she brought her youth and intense energy into Gossip Girl in a recurring role as Olivia Burke. Most recently, she has been playing Kelsey Peters on TV Land’s Younger.

That show is about to enter its seventh season, and rumors are strong this is the final season. But cross those fingers, Duff fans: a spinoff focusing on her character is currently in the works according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Lalaine

On Lizzie McGuire, Lalaine played the supporting character Miranda Sanchez. Her role eventually faded away on the show, and for a while, it seems like Lalaine herself faded from acting.

But she still pops up in some head-turning roles from time to time. We loved her in the 2010 film Easy A, and she recently appeared in the 2020 movie Definition Please. Based on the strength of these performances, we’re looking forward to whatever her next role is… much like our next amazing celeb.

Hallie Todd

Hallie Todd portrayed the character of Jo McGuire, Lizzie’s mother. And in that role, she embodied the parent all of the adult viewers wish they could be and all of the younger viewers wished they could have.

Before Lizzie McGuire, Hallie Todd was a veteran of many different TV shows. She hasn’t done much acting since Lizzie McGuire wrapped up, but she was all geared up to reprise her role as Jo McGuire for a show revival. Sadly, as Entertainment Weekly reports, Hilary Duff nixed the idea of doing a show revival.

Adam Lamberg

In Lizzie McGuire, Adam Lamberg played the role of David Gordon (better known as “Gordo” to his friends). And we can only assume that the cancellation of the Lizzie McGuire revival was particularly bad news for Lamberg.

After all, he only had two roles since the original show wrapped up. Those roles were the 2005 movie When Do We Eat? and the 2008 movie Beautiful Loser. He was getting ready to appear in the revival when plans for that show fell apart.

But the next star didn’t need a revival to keep his career going!

Jake Thomas

It’s interesting to see how young stars react to their Disney Channel fame. Some, it seems, can’t wait to break away and do something else. And others see Disney as a path to future opportunities.

Jake Thomas, who played Lizzie’s younger brother Matt McGuire, returned to Disney three years after Lizzie McGuire wrapped up. He ended up playing Jason Stickler on Cory in the House. Later, he would appear in various network procedurals such as CSI: New York, S.W.A.T., and many other roles.

Ashlie Brillault

In retrospect, it’s surprising how many of the show’s cast weren’t really interested in acting after Lizzie McGuire wrapped up. This is especially true of Ashlie Brillault, who played Lizzie’s recurring nemesis Kate Sanders.

When the show ended, Brillault never really acted again. But she remains loyal to the show and its fans and joined the cast for a virtual table read in 2020 of the script for “Between a Rock and a Bra Place.” Even after all these years, this read proved that she still has it!

Fortunately, that’s true for our next hunky celeb as well.

Clayton Snyder

What is a Disney Channel show without its resident heartthrob? In Lizzie McGuire, that role was filled by Clayton Snyder, the actor who portrayed hunky Ethan Craft.

Fortunately for Snyder, the years have been kind and he really grew into his smoldering “boy next door” vibe. And he was able to translate that into roles on NCIS, Rules of Engagement, and many more shows.

Robert Carradine

For the younger stars, shows like Lizzie McGuire often help to define their careers. The adult stars, however, are usually cast based on the strength of their acting history and their iconic roles.

Robert Carradine, who played Lizzie’s dad Sam McGuire, is a great example of this. He was already well-known for movies like Revenge of the Nerds, and being the half-brother of David Carradine made him even more famous. Since his Disney tenure wrapped up, Robert has appeared in projects as diverse as Law & Order: Criminal Intent, Django Unchained, and Robot Chicken.
