Have you ever known someone whose anger manages to fly under the radar? Rather than having numerous public outbursts, these are the kinds of people that know how to keep their temper hidden behind closed doors.
The last person we’d expect to fit this description is Prince William. Nonetheless, a reputable royal author is alleging that William has a surprisingly short temper. Just what did the author say, and what shocking statements did he make regarding the future King of England’s temper? Keep reading to find out!
Prince William Is Very Affable In Public
Perhaps the primary reason that it’s so difficult to imagine Prince William as having a temper is that he is usually the most affable royal. He seems relatively down to Earth when dealing with the public, and he seems to have done an amazing job of winning everyone over. For example, YouGov reports that he is the second most popular royal, coming in only behind Queen Elizabeth. Since she has passed away, that makes William the most popular living member of the Royal Family.
However, what if that is all just a polite mask hiding the real William? Yahoo reports that Robert Jobson, royal expert and author of Our King: Charles III: The Man and the Monarch Revealed, got the real scoop on William from an unnamed palace insider. “He can be difficult,” they said. “He is a driven person, and that can make him impatient.”
Unfortunately, since William remains so affable in public, that means there is only one real target left for his impatience: his family!

Charles vs. William: a battle of wills
Allegedly, it’s not that uncommon for Prince William to clash with King Charles behind the scenes. According to Page Six, the palace insider said as much to Robert Jobson. The source claimed that this impatient quality “can make William short-tempered when dealing with Charles.” It doesn’t help that Charles has a temper, something we have seen in public on several occasions.
Apparently, though, William has a very different kind of temper from his father. According to the source, “The Boss (Charles) has a temper, too, but it does not go on and on. He can get frustrated and flare up and then, in an instant, it is forgotten about. With William, it is rarely forgotten.”
To hear the insider tell it, this anger has annoyed Charles on many previous occasions, but the king can’t exactly say he is surprised about this anger. That’s because William and even his estranged brother Harry allegedly get their anger from Charles’ first wife, the iconic Princess Diana.
Anger that traces its way back to Princess Diana
In addition to being Prince William’s mother, Princess Diana was a lot like her son when she was a working royal. It took her very little time to develop a well-deserved reputation as “the people’s princess,” and she often led popularity polls when she was alive, just as William does now.
However, depending on who you talk to, she also allegedly had an angry streak that she could hide from the public but not from family members who let her down or otherwise annoyed her. According to Page Six, royal guru Robert Jobson said as much, claiming that Charles very much saw in both his sons a mirror of his former wife’s anger: “He knew that they were both strong-willed, stubborn even; conflict would be very difficult to manage and could have a detrimental impact on the monarchy itself.”
Despite knowing where this anger came from, though, the sheer intensity of it could sometimes shock the king. “Sometimes the level of belligerence between his sons, and indeed towards him, has shocked Charles,” Dobson said.

Harry is often the source of William’s anger
Given how estranged the two have become, it won’t shock you to learn that Prince Harry is allegedly one of the main sources of William’s anger. And in his autobiography Spare, Harry is unflinching in describing an alleged incident between himself and his brother that turned violent.
As reported by The Guardian, Harry described an incident in 2019 when the two of them were arguing about (who else?) Meghan Markle. Allegedly, William really unloaded on his brother, describing Meghan using terms such as “difficult,” “rude,” and “abrasive.” Harry, for his part, got increasingly annoyed to hear his brother “parrot the press narrative” about his wife.
Harry said things got so fierce that William “grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace, and … knocked me to the floor.” Harry, for his part, says he was left with visible injuries to his back from his brother’s attack. And two years later, things hadn’t gotten much better. According to the Independent, Charles had to physically get between his sons during an argument at Prince Philip’s funeral, breaking up what could have turned into another physical altercation with a simple plea: “Please boys,” Harry quoted his father as saying, “Don’t make my final years a misery.”
