After jostling many other members of “the firm” while in England, they made the surprising decision to step down from most of their royal responsibilities and begin a new life in America. Since then, they have continued to stir controversy, mostly by spilling tea about various royals in their infamous Oprah interview and Netflix docu-series as well as Prince Harry’s memoir.
However, these two rebellious royals don’t always stir up controversy by airing their family’s dirty laundry in public. Sometimes, they do it the old-fashioned way…by making out in public! The Invictus Games are very important to Prince Harry, as he created this sporting event for wounded veterans in order to celebrate such soldiers and their service. As Harry’s wife, Meghan Markle has become increasingly important at these events. And in 2022, she introduced Harry so that he could make a speech for the opening festivities.
In the speech, Meghan made her feelings clear: “I could not love and respect him more, and I know that all of you feel the same.” Before she left the stage, Meghan matched words to actions and gave Harry a very passionate kiss. Royals don’t normally kiss in public, so this particular PDA caused a major stir around the world. As usual, though, the controversy didn’t seem to bother these lovebirds!

A sizzling wedding kiss
As we said before, members of the Royal Family don’t usually kiss in public. It’s part of an ancient family tradition, and it also helps this famous family serve as exemplars of the “stiff upper lip” the English are so famous for. But there are certain occasions where royals’ public displays of affection are acceptable, including weddings. And nobody enjoyed this more than Harry and Meghan!
The entire world was watching their 2018 wedding, and these two newlyweds really made things count. On the steps in front of an attentive crowd, the two passionately locked lips and made their union official. This moment also made for a bit of national history…despite the sheer number of royal weddings held at St. George’s Chapel, this was actually the first one where the royals kissed outside the West Door!
Plenty of PDA on Harry and Meghan’s royal tour
Some royal duties are more enjoyable than others. For example, Harry and Meghan both took a royal tour in 2018. That tour took them to Australia, Fiji, Tonga, and New Zealand, where they made a number of public engagements. Those engagements were official royal business, of course, but the whole thing also functioned as an extended vacation for the happy couple. And based on how they acted, these two certainly enjoyed the trip!
Throughout the tour, the couple was spotted holding hands, linking their arms together, and just generally cuddling their way through the world. They weren’t exactly obnoxious about it or anything, but the public was accustomed to royal couples having no PDA whatsoever. Therefore, the sight of these two being so physically affectionate was a real sight to see.

A viral polo kiss
Like King Charles before him, Prince Harry is a big fan of polo. Such a fan, in fact, that he participated in the Royal Salute Polo Challenge charity match in 2024. As usual, Meghan was there to support her man, and after the game, she handed him a silver trophy. But many would say the real big prize the prince received was the kiss she gave him along with the trophy.
Like so many celebrity moments, this kiss was recorded and ultimately went viral on TikTok. For the most part, online fans loved to see the happy couple’s smooch and Meghan’s stylish attire. As usual, though, some online critics took the couple to task by complaining that they shouldn’t be so publicly affectionate.
Super affectionate at a baseball game
Whether you love or hate them, you must admit that Harry and Meghan have really tried to acclimate to their new life in America. For example, only weeks after she gave birth to Archie, Meghan and Harry attended an MLB game in London where the New York Yankees played against the Boston Red Sox. And the two were front and center, standing on the field for the national anthem before posing with pictures with some of the Invictus athletes.
Considering she had recently given birth to a child, many expected Meghan to be touched-out and generally exhausted. To everyone’s surprise, though, she and Harry were downright frisky in their physical affection. They held hands while walking, Harry put his arms around her, and the two generally came across as a couple simply lost in their intense love for one another.
