However, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have learned a major economic lesson lately: the law of supply and demand.

While these two royals have always been photogenic, the general public is less interested in new pics of them than in pics of Archie and Lilibet, Harry and Meghan’s two children. These kids have largely been kept out of the limelight, which offers them a decent chance at enjoying a normal life. Accordingly, there are very few photos of these children floating around, and reporters and royal fans typically go crazy when they get to see a new one.

If you don’t know much about the Royal Family, you might think that releasing a Christmas card would be the last thing they’d do. It’s the kind of activity more associated with bored suburban moms than princes and princesses. But the truth is that releasing these cards each year is a wholesome tradition for many royals, including Harry and Meghan.

This year, the two made a Christmas card that featured the whole family. We see the two children running into their parent’s arms, with Lilibet running to Harry and Archie running to Meghan. And pet lovers should take note: in addition to the adorable human children, this holiday photo also features the family’s three dogs, which include two beagles and a black Labrador.

Harry and Meghan’s Christmas card was shared by someone very special

Depending on your perspective, the fact that Harry and Meghan released a Christmas card at all is less surprising than who it was released from. This wasn’t one of those awkward cases where somebody leaked the card in order to get a cheap payday from the press (something Meghan in particular has dealt with before). In this case, the image was released by someone who has become very close with this royally rebellious couple.

The Christmas card was released on X (formerly Twitter) by Omid Scobie along with a simple caption: “The Sussexes share highlights of their year on the 2024 Archewell holiday card”. If Scobie’s name doesn’t immediately ring a bell, he’s a royal reporter with a major track record of covering the Royal Family. He also wrote Finding Freedom, a book that was (you guessed it) rather friendly toward Harry and Meghan.

Showing off the royal children (but not too much of them)

For many of us, the most exciting thing about this Christmas card is that it gave us a new look at Harry and Meghan’s children, Archie and Lilibet. As mentioned before, these kids haven’t had many photos released to the general public. Accordingly, everyone has been hungry for a new look at these royal tykes, and this Christmas photo provides that look…albeit not much of one.

Remember when we said that the photo had the two children running into their parent’s arms? A side effect of this is that you can’t actually see their faces, making it difficult to tell how much they have grown. However, a closer look at these children reveals a few more details we didn’t know before, including just how strong Prince Harry’s genes really are.

Prince Harry clearly has some strong genes

There’s only so much detail you can glean from Archie and Lilibet in this Christmas photo. Not being able to see their faces, for example, keeps us from gauging how much these two have grown in recent years. But there’s one major physical detail you probably noticed right away: namely, that both of the children are rocking some seriously red hair.

Red, of course, is the color of Prince Harry’s own hair. The fact that both children are sporting this crimson coloration means that Harry’s genes are very strong. Considering his connection to one of the most famous bloodlines in the world, that’s certainly not a bad thing!

Facing some royal setbacks

On a sliding scale, the release of this Christmas photo was the bright spot amid some otherwise dark days for Harry and Meghan. During their bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey, Harry previously claimed that his father had financially cut him off. After that, he and Meghan began making various media deals in an attempt to secure a better future for themselves.

Recently, those efforts have stalled out in a very public way. Harry’s Netflix show Polo has been released to very middling reviews, and that means that Meghan’s cooking show may be indefinitely delayed. If the royal couple is still cut off from King Charles, then the failure of their most recent media releases may eventually cause their media deals to dry up. This could force them to get a real job, and after that, releasing cute Christmas photos might be the last thing they can afford to do!
