The whirlwind romance of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry has had the whole world talking for several years. And now a royal biographer is claiming that Meghan helped turn Harry into a “better man.”
Sean Smith is a royal biographer and the author of Meghan Misunderstood. This makes him an expert on both Meghan and Harry’s relationship as well as the famously secretive Royal Family.
And Smith appears fond of the famous couple. Speaking to the Daily Star earlier this month, he praised their decision to leave royal life behind and head for the states. On the tricky topic of “Megxit,” Smith said, “They’re successful, grown adults, they can do what they wish and if they’re financially independent too, then great, goodbye.”
Now, in an interview Sunday with the Daily Star, Smith says that Meghan helped make Harry into the man he is today. As Smith puts it, “Prince Harry is the man who served in two tours of duty in Afghanistan and it really was the making of him. His service career turned the boy into a man and his partnership with Meghan Markle has turned him into a better man.”
Smith offers specific praise for the spark that Meghan Markle brought to the Royal Family. As he put it, “Historians would have you believe the Royal Family are boring at times, but Meghan Markle is not a dull person. She has a great deal of charisma that is now sadly missing in the Royal Family.”
He continued: “This is a woman of substance and that is not how she has been represented and hopefully there is still time for people to realize that.”
This is likely a reference to the seemingly non-stop media focus on Meghan Markle. She was the subject of tabloid rumors and gossip as soon as she began dating Prince Harry.
This culminated in Markle suing Associated Newspapers in October 2019, after The Mail on Sunday published excerpts of a private letter she wrote to her father. The legal drama is still unfolding to this day. Markle is currently awaiting a decision on a summary judgment from a judge in London’s High Court, which will determine whether or not the case will go to trial in the fall.
Ultimately, Smith summed things up nicely. As he puts it, “Meghan brought something that I think, is now missing” from the Royal Family.
But the question remains, is the Royal Family missing her?
