It’s an open secret that Kim Kardashian always does things her own way. But would you believe that extends to contacting the dead?
Kim Kardashian was very close to her late father. That’s part of why it was such a big deal that Kanye arranged for a holographic message from her father as a gift for Kim’s 40th birthday. Now, it seems Kim is trying to talk to her dad the old-fashioned way: by phone!
On Monday, Kim made a post on Instagram wishing her father a happy birthday. But part of what made her birthday wish so interesting was that Kim tried to call her late father on his cellphone and, failing that, asked him to visit her in a dream.
“Happy Birthday Dad! I celebrate you every single day but today even more. So much to tell you! I called your cell phone number just wondering if anyone would pick up after all these years. I actually can’t believe I remembered it,” Kim wrote.
In addition to calling her father’s old cell phone number, Kim invited him to visit her in a dream and send her signs in the form of symbols and birds.
“Please come visit me in a dream soon. 🙏🏼 Also can you pretty please send down a sign in the form of those symbols/birds we always talked about?!?! I just miss you sooooo much!”
It’s possible Kim is feeling particularly vulnerable right now and looking for spiritual guidance, having just filed for divorce from Kanye West on Friday.
Of course, Kim’s celebration of her father’s birthday extended beyond a simple message on Instagram. She also published a selection of old family photos on her Instagram Story that shows how happy she and the rest of her family were around Robert.
For Kim Kardashian fans, one of the best photos came straight out of the 1980s. It features a pre-teen Kim absolutely rocking an adorable denim jacket.
Another photo features Robert with his wife Kris and children Kim, Rob, Kourtney, and Khloé. If the point of this Instagram Story was to help the world see Robert Kardashian as a beloved family man, then the mission has definitely been accomplished!
As fun as the family photos are and as celebratory as Kim’s message is, there is still an undercurrent of sadness here. For all of her wealth and fame, we cannot help seeing Kim Kardashian as a vulnerable woman who simply wants her dad back.
And the photos of all of the family when everyone was much younger drives home the point that we must all enjoy our friends and family members while they are still with us.
