Kim Kardashian made waves when she filed for divorce from Kanye West last month. Now, we have learned that Kanye reportedly thinks that he and Kim will get back together one day.
This information comes courtesy of Entertainment Tonight. One of their sources reported that Kim will “always love Kanye” as the father of her children. And even though Kim is very concerned about Kanye’s struggles with his bipolar disorder, she “has full faith that he will strive to do his best to be the father and person he once was.”
And the divorce is not as acrimonious as it could have been, with Kim willing to share custody of their four children: North, 7; Saint, 5; Chicago, 3; and Psalm, 1. The source tells ET, “The divorce has been difficult for him, but knowing that he has access to his little ones and has split custody is making the transition easier.”
The biggest news is that Kanye is still hopeful for a reconciliation. The source confirmed this but also pointed out that it might take a long time. “Kim and Kanye are in contact with regards to their kids. Kanye has hope that they will reconcile, but he is not expecting that in the immediate future.”
Part of why reconciliation would take a long time (if it happens at all) is that Kim is quite happy to be putting this matter behind her. The source says that Kim “is happy to see that chapter close.” She is focused on her children and realizes that “she is ready to put this hardship behind her both publicly and personally.”
With all that being said, is reconciliation truly likely? Though the two are now communicating in a healthy way about the future of their children, even those outside of Kim and Kanye’s circle could see that the “irreconcilable differences” cited as the reason for divorce have been building for a very long time.
Things could potentially change, of course. Their paperwork does not name a specific day for their divorce, which could be seen as a way to keep the door to reconciliation open. But considering the prenuptial agreement in place and the immense wealth and fame of both parties, it seems likelier that a “TBD” date is just a way of getting everyone’s affairs in order ahead of time.
Despite Kanye’s hopes, this appears to be the end of the road for him and Kim. Another source previously told ET, “The couple has been done for a while and have been amicable for a while. At the end of the day, Kanye and Kim love each other immensely, but knew it was time to call it quits. Their children are their number one priority and no matter what will maintain a positive relationship for them.”
