It looks like Kanye West and Kim Kardashian are no longer speaking to one another directly. This is because Kanye changed all his phone numbers and told Kim she could only reach him by contacting his security.
This news comes courtesy of Page Six, whose source close to the couple revealed that Kanye stopped speaking to Kim before she filed for divorce.
“Even before Kim filed for divorce, Kanye changed his numbers and said, ‘You can contact me through my security,’” the source said.
Despite the lack of direct contact, the two are committed to co-parenting their children North, 7, Saint, 5, Chicago, 3, and Psalm, 1. To that end, Kanye still makes regular visits to see the kids, but only when Kim is out of the house.
“She trusts him around the kids. He loves them and is seeing a lot of them,” the source said. “She leaves the house and he arrives and hangs out with the kids. They have an army of nannies so the transition is easy.”
What would cause Kanye to feel so strongly about no longer speaking to Kim? While the source did not reveal any insight into this matter, it may have to do with some of the details of their divorce.
During divorce proceedings, Kanye and Kim fought intensely over who would keep their Hidden Hills property. Kim ultimately won this battle due to the fact that this home is where their children have been growing up.
As the source put it, “Kim fought to keep the place because it is their children’s home, and she won.”
But the outcome was never certain and determining who should retain ownership was relatively difficult. “Kim owns all the land around the house, but Kanye had bought the house himself, then they split the cost of the renovations,” the source said.
While the Hidden Hills property is large and expansive, Kanye still has a place to live. The source pointed out that Kanye “has his ranch in Wyoming, but he has recently been in LA recording and working so he comes to visit the kids regularly.”
Why, though, does Kanye need to return to Kim’s house to see the kids? The source told Page Six that, simply put, Kim is “not shuttling the kids up to Wyoming and back.”
Aside from fighting over the house and the children, the divorce filing was relatively straightforward since they had a prenuptial agreement in place. For the former couple, the source believes it was easier just to say, “‘You keep your money and I’ll keep mine.’”
Earlier this month, a source speaking to ET revealed that Kanye still hopes he and Kim will reconcile.
But to do that, he might want to give her his new number.
