When it comes to Royal Family members, Queen Camilla has always been fairly controversial. Sure, she no longer generates the kinds of wild headlines that younger royals like Harry and Meghan do. But back in her day, Camilla was downright infamous for her highly public affair with King Charles. And considering how beloved Diana was, many saw (and still see) Camilla as a homewrecker for making the people’s princess and Charles finally divorce.
Things mostly worked out for Camilla, though…she married Charles, and after his coronation, she was correspondingly crowned as Queen. As such, she makes quite a few media appearances, and that caused us to notice a troubling trend. You see, Camilla’s makeup has gone from bad to worse, and she often shows up looking more like a clown than a queen.

Blush that makes us blush (in the worst possible way)

To put it mildly, Queen Camilla is someone who likes to make a statement. She doesn’t simply show up and fade into the background…instead, she likes to pop in and instantly become the center of attention. Usually, her makeup helps her to make a royal impression on everyone in attendance. But on one memorable occasion, she experienced the mother of all blusher mistakes.
In September 2023, Camilla appeared at the Palace of Versailles. She had applied blush in order to give herself a more youthful and vibrant experience. Just one problem: instead of applying some blush, she seemingly applied all of it. The result is that she looked like she barely knew how to put her face on, which is…well…a bad look (literally!) for one of England’s biggest monarchs.

Bad brow moment

Part of being a senior member of the Royal Family is supporting various charities. Camilla understands this all too well, which is why she attended an event supporting Helen & Douglas House and Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity at Clarence House last December. The Queen’s appearance is always going to make people talk, but this time, royal aficionados weren’t dishing over Camilla’s charitable spirit. No, they were gossiping about her killer eyebrows!
You see, Camilla appeared at this event with the eyebrows that had been drawn onto her face rather haphazardly. To make matters worse, she used a rather dark color for the brows. Finally, the fact that they were straight brows drew our attention to them that much more. The final result was a look that didn’t come across as very royal…instead, it seemed like she was copying Lauren Boebert’s brow style. And considering how much controversy Boebert always causes across the pond, this likely isn’t the comparison Camilla was going for!
Very orange foundation

Normally, you wouldn’t think there are too many similarities between Queen Camilla and Donald Trump. Sure, both of them are national leaders who make splashy headlines, but they are quite different in terms of personality and leadership style. They do share one more thing in common, though: the same unfortunate taste in foundation.
In May of 2024, Camilla appeared in Rye, East Sussex, and she didn’t really look like herself. That’s because she had applied the wrong foundation to her skin. It’s a real rookie makeup mistake, and it’s weird to see someone as wise as Camilla make this particular mistake. It’s even weirder to see the results of the mistake: a very orange face that makes her look way too much like Trump.
Major homage or major mistake? Either way, we’ll call this one a fail.

Camilla’s a member of the pink patchy club

Sometimes, a makeup fail is that much more evident when someone else has gotten everything else right. In March 2023, when Queen Camilla attended a state banquet at Bellevue Palace, Berlin, Germany, her fit was on point: her foundation was good, her blush was tasteful, and her tiara was immaculate. All of this, sadly, drew our attention to just how much she messed up her lipstick.
What was so wrong with her lipstick, you ask? In short, her pink lipstick look was way too patchy. That may sound like a small thing, but it made Camilla look like a teenager who didn’t know how to put on makeup instead of a veteran royal with decades of experience attending state events.
Loose lipliner sinks ships

What, did you think we were done with Queen Camilla lipstick fails? Well, you better “kiss” that assumption goodbye! Way back in May 2012, Camilla was spotted with a brown line beneath her bottom lip. It was (relatively speaking) so pronounced that some speculated it was a coffee stain. However, the smart money is that this was another major makeup fail.
It looked for all the world like the future Queen messed up her lipliner. Sure, that happens to everyone from time to time, but it’s still a pretty bad look for someone who is so media-savvy. Unfortunately, this went down as an early example of Camilla’s makeup fails striking when we least suspect them, and we suspect it won’t be long before we get another memorable makeup mishap.
