Over the years, it’s fair to say that controversy has really served Marjorie Taylor Greene well. Shilling conspiracy theories and stirring culture war controversies helped make her a popular rightwing figure, and she managed to parlay her unexpected popularity into a position in Congress.

Recently, Greene has been dating Brian Glenn, who is a rising star in right-wing political circles in his own right. But just who is Glenn? How did he and Greene meet, and what is the major controversy that threatens to drive them apart? Keep reading to find out!

Marjorie Taylor Greene’s meteoric (and controversial) rise in politics

To understand who Marjorie Taylor Greene has been dating, you must first understand how her entire world has shifted in just the last few years. Before Donald Trump ran for president, she wasn’t very politically active or even aware. But he inspired her to take her concerns directly to Washington, D.C., and when she felt she wasn’t being heard, she ran for and won a seat in Congress.

Once in power, she continued some of the crazy antics that had made her famous. This included everything from illegally using Dr. Dre’s music in her marketing to comparing her personal hero Donald Trump to Jesus once he was arrested. In short, she remained a prominent conservative firebrand, and that is part of what attracted her boyfriend, Brian Glenn, in the first place.

Who is Brian Glenn?

Marjorie Taylor Greene’s new boyfriend is Brian Glenn. And while he is not as famous as she is, he is someone that is becoming increasingly well-known in right-wing media circles. That’s because he is a conservative media producer who works for a company (Right Side Broadcasting) based out of Auburn, Alabama.

To this end, he is constantly sharing messages about how President Biden is terrible, Donald Trump is great, and climate change isn’t a real concern. Given their similarities, it’s not too surprising that he and Greene began dating. As for Greene, she once told Semafor that Glenn is “from the industry, so he is a great resource” and, given his industry connections, she joked “maybe I’m falling in love with the press.”

When did they begin dating?

While we don’t know the exact date that Marjorie Taylor Greene and Brian Glenn began dating, it looks like they began dating in 2022. But we wouldn’t be surprised if Glenn was already on Greene’s radar…he has been working for Right Side Broadcasting since 2020, and he’s been championing Greene’s idol Donald Trump the entire time.

When it became public knowledge that these two were dating, the timing ended up raising more than a few eyebrows. Because they began dating very shortly after Greene’s divorce from her ex-husband was finalized, there remains occasional online speculation about whether Greene’s feelings towards Glenn might have ended up affecting her marriage.

Greene’s similarities with Glenn

Chances are that you grew up hearing people discuss how “opposites attract.” But that’s not usually the case: in reality, people are typically attracted to those who are very similar to themselves. And when it comes to her choice of boyfriend, it appears that Greene found someone who agrees with her on what she considers to be the most important things.

For example, he’ll regularly tweet out video clips of Marjorie Taylor Greene, amplifying her messages about what he calls the “#climatecrisishoax” Over on Instagram, he shares even more clips of Greene while trying to gin up support for impeaching Joe Biden. In short, he’s in perfect agreement with Greene and enjoys being her mouthpiece, so she likely sees him as the perfect boyfriend.

Getting “dragged” into the culture wars

Because Brian Glenn has been a media figure for so much of his life, there is plenty of footage of him from over the years. This includes footage that sometimes contradicts his recent words and actions, and one bit of footage recently threatened to completely undermine him as a culture warrior.

As with many right-wingers clinging to the culture war grift, Glenn has been very vocal in his opposition to people dressing in drag. He even took to Instagram to post that “Drag Queen story time/shows are not appropriate for children. A man dressed as a woman reading books to children is intentionally gender confusing, especially for young kids. … It is not hateful to say NO and stop Drag Queen story times/shows for children.”

This particular post came to haunt Glenn when Twitter users discovered old footage of him dressing in drag for a broadcast (one that children presumably watched), complete with him saying “I may keep the pantyhose on” because “It does feel kind of good actually.” Just when we thought this might drive him and Greene apart, though, they both defended his cross-dressing online right before he tried to gain his dignity back by misgendering a female athlete he doesn’t like via Twitter. Dumb, dishonest, and leveraging cruelty for clicks…maybe he really is the perfect match for Marjorie Taylor Greene.
