Lamar Odom is slamming critics who claim that men associated with the Kardashian family fall victim to the “Kardashian curse.”
In a recent interview with VladTV, Odom was asked about the so-called Kardashian curse. “When it comes to the Kardashians, and the various men associated with the various Kardashian women, you always hear ‘the Kardashian curse,” the interviewer said. “You’re obviously part of this story. . . . People like to paint this type of story.”
“But that’s stupidity because everybody goes through s–t,” Odom countered. “If I had your family on tape, and see all the s–t your family was going through, people would be like, ‘This f–king family is crazy! People would see all the drug addicts, all the sex. They share their life with you, so you see everything.”
The 41-year-old former NBA star married Khloé Kardashian, 36, in 2009, after only one month of dating. They had a tumultuous marriage, with reports of Odom cheating on Khloé and overdosing in a Nevada brother in 2015. Odom has spoken about his issues with drug addiction and sex addiction over the years. Khloé filed for divorce in 2013, and it was finalized in 2016. Her sister Kim Kardashian is currently undergoing a high-profile divorce from rapper Kanye West.
But Odom does not have hard feelings toward the Kardashians after his failed marriage. “I’m just lucky enough to have some of that stardust fall off on me,” he said. “In some ways, it’s the reason why I’m still relevant to this day, because I’m not playing ball no more.”
He also defended the Kardashians, saying that the same people who criticize them are the ones who are responsible for their fame and success. “Maybe it’s overexposed, but people love it. The people that made them are the ones who point the fingers. It’s kind of sickening,” he said. “It’s still hard to figure out, the love/hate that people have for them.”
Earlier this month, his ex-wife Khloé hit back at critics and online bullies. “My body, my image and how I choose to look and what I want to share is my choice,” she wrote on Instagram. “It’s not for anyone to decide or judge what is acceptable or not anymore.”
