It’s been an emotional rollercoaster watching Donald Trump prepare for life after the White House. But here’s a better question: what will Melania be doing?
Thanks to a variety of sources, we’ve got a pretty good idea of what Melania wants to do in the next few years. And some of that may be a future far, far away from Donald Trump!
Here is the full breakdown of what Melania Trump will be doing after leaving the White House.
New school for Barron
Barron Trump’s education has been a big concern for Melania for many years now. At first, she hesitated to move from New York City so that Barron could finish his school year there. And now that the Trumps are leaving Washington D.C., they need to figure out a school solution for Barron.
And it looks like Melania has found a winner. Barron will be reportedly attending school at Pine Crest in Fort Lauderdale. A return to Florida for the family makes sense, but it looks like Melania may not be making the trip!

Possible return to the Big Apple
Could Melania split from the family and go do her own thing in New York City? According to some who are close to the family, this is a definite possibility!
Melania was actually very happy in New York before Donald Trump won the presidency. She has many friends in the area as well as a sister that she dearly loves. Between the friends and the food, what’s not to love about the area?
A return to New York might also allow Melania to live a more private life once more. But for real privacy, there is one move she still needs to make: divorcing Donald Trump. Is a future without Donald Trump in the works for Melania?
A future without Donald Trump?
At a glance, Donald Trump and Melania Trump do not seem overly close or overly affectionate. Word is they allegedly sleep in separate beds at the White House. Moreover, it’s claimed the real reason for Melania staying in New York City for so long was to renegotiate her pre-nup with Donald Trump.
Between this and all those times Melania didn’t want to even hold her husband’s hand, and it seems like divorce may be on the horizon. And The Apprentice star-turned-Trump-aide Omarosa Manigault Newman feels the same way. She has claimed (via MSN) that Melania is “counting every minute until he is out of office and she can divorce.”
Thanks to Donald Trump’s love of pre-nups and NDAs, we may never know Melania’s true feelings towards her husband. But from the outside looking in, it seems like a very frosty relationship.

A book deal in the works
What does Melania herself plan to do once she leaves the White House? She may return to an old career, or possibly try her hands at something completely new!
Trump’s former friend and adviser Stephanie Winston Wolkoff secretly recorded a number of interactions with Melania. And on one of the recordings, Melania was actually dishing about a Beyoncé issue of Vogue. Specifically, she noted (via The Independent) that the pop legend had hired the “first black photographer ever doing [a] cover of Vogue.”
These comments led some people to think Melania may long for a return to her old modeling career. However, other first ladies have managed to secure very lucrative book deals after leaving the White House. For instance, Barack and Michelle Obama’s joint book deal netted them a $65 million advance.
It looks like Melania also wants to cash in with a White House memoir. An anonymous source told Page Six in November 2020, “Melania is in meetings to write her White House memoir. And it would be her money – a chance for her to earn on her own.”
Without such a deal in place, though, Melania’s future is in flux. And she may not be able to secure a profitable future unless she can build a better brand for herself.
To rebrand or not to rebrand
While Donald Trump has been the primary magnet for controversy, Melania Trump has had her share of controversial moments. This includes everything from plagiarizing Michelle Obama’s speeches to wearing a jacket that reads “I don’t really care, do u?” while visiting a child migration center.
In fact, her centerpiece “achievement” was a toothless #BeBest campaign where she encouraged people to fight back against bullying while saying nothing about her husband’s endless online bullying.
On one hand, there has never been a better time to rebrand and build a new future. But many fans of both Donald and Melania Trump like them for their blunt and straightforward nature. Melania may ultimately double down on her current brand as a way to appeal to the most hardcore Trump supporters.
Then again, Donald Trump may be the main reason her future is so uncertain!

Will he or won’t he?
Ironically, the biggest obstacle to Melana’s future is none other than Donald Trump.
To put it mildly, Donald Trump has not taken his loss in the 2020 presidential election very well. He continues to make unsubstantiated claims about election fraud and how he actually won the election instead of Joe Biden. And these baseless claims continue even after Trump and his administration lose court case after court case over these matters.
This puts Melania in a tough spot. She can’t announce too many future plans without seeming like she isn’t supporting her husband. But the more she encourages Donald’s dreams of spending four more years in the White House, the more she must put her own future on hold.
Perhaps in discovering life after the White House, Melania can discover a new way and a new purpose for herself.
