Chelsea Clinton might not be on the pop culture radar as much as she used to be since her parents Bill and Hillary Clinton have left the political spotlight. Nonetheless, this former “First Kid” and erstwhile close friend of Ivanka Trump lives in a home any movie star would envy.
In 2013, Chelsea Clinton and her husband Marc Mezvinsky bought a stunning $10.5 million New York apartment where they are now raising their three children: 5 year-old Charlotte, 3-year-old Aidan, and 5-month-old Jasper.
Want the inside scoop on Chelsea Clinton’s breathtaking 5,000 sq ft apartment? We’ve got all the details you’ve been waiting for!
Chelsea lives in a trendy place
Chelsea’s apartment is located in the Flatiron District of New York City. If you’re not familiar with the city or of Manhattan, take it from us: this is one of the trendiest places for someone to hang their hat!
The area is full of historic homes and amazing architecture. And Clinton’s apartment has an interesting history as well: her apartment building, The Whitman, was built nearly 100 years ago. When she’s not kicking back in her historical home, Clinton can enjoy a district full of trendy boutiques and avant-garde eateries.
Chelsea has a killer view
Anyone who has stayed at a lot of multi-story apartments understands a simple truth: there is often a big difference between a cool building and a nice view. What good is living in a historical building if there is nothing to see outside?
Fortunately, Chelsea Clinton doesn’t have to worry about this. Her apartment actually looks out over Madison Square Park. And parts of her home (such as the living room and master bedroom) feature floor-to-ceiling windows.
As a result, she has one of the best views that any New York resident could hope for!
Chelsea’s home is environmentally-friendly
While her parents’ politics are well-known to the public, many people don’t know what causes Chelsea Clinton is passionate about. Suffice it to say that she is devoted to causes such as endangered animals and environmentalism.
Despite the modern luxuries of her home, Chelsea Clinton and her family try to live in a very eco-friendly way. This includes everything from taking shorter showers to teaching her kids that they have a responsibility to take care of the planet.
In this way, Chelsea Clinton helps to model a better future for future generations.
Chelsea’s bathroom is made of Italian marble
When people renovate their homes, the bathroom is often at the top of the to-do list. That’s because a luxurious bathroom instantly makes a home feel that much fancier. In Chelsea Clinton’s case, though, no bathroom renovation should ever be necessary!
That’s because the master bathroom (one of 6.5 bathrooms in the apartment) is downright decadent. It is constructed of Italian marble and features a huge soaking tub — the perfect way to relax after a long day.
There’s even a giant shower complete with frameless glass doors! The whole place screams “modern royalty,” and the luxury bathroom is definitely a highlight of the whole apartment.
Chelsea has an ultra modern kitchen
While it’s not covered in Italian marble like the bathroom, Clinton’s kitchen is both beautiful and practical. It has a modern aesthetic and features such as two different built-in ovens. And the kitchen’s waterfall countertops make the whole room pop with modern grandeur.
Ultimately, though, the star of the kitchen are those spacious ovens. Preparing multiple dishes for her own family or even a major party is no problem when you have ovens like these at your disposal!
Each of Chelsea’s kids has a palatial bedroom
Did you have to share a bedroom with your sibling growing up? Maybe if you were lucky enough to get your own room, you still had to share a bathroom, right?
Well, Chelsea Clinton’s kids probably don’t have that problem. That’s because Chelsea’s apartment has four palatial bedrooms, each with its own private bathroom.
The master bedroom is of course the largest, running the entire width of the apartment. But that still leaves three bedrooms to spare for each of Chelsea’s three children. The apartment also has three dressing rooms, enough for each kid. Check out the apartment’s floor plan below!
Chelsea’s home has lots of security
For Chelsea Clinton and other celebrities, security is always an issue. A home has to have more than fancy bathrooms and a killer view — it also has to have the ability to keep residents safe.
The good news is that security is a major priority for The Whitman. It has features such as private elevator landings and elevators that can only be used via special keys. And, of course, there is a doorman who works full-time to keep Clinton and other residents safe.
Is this a permanent home for Chelsea?
As cool as The Whitman is, is this where Chelsea Clinton is planning on staying forever? For three years after buying her place at The Whitman, Chelsea continued to own the “starter” home she and Marc had bought after they got married in 2010.
While the future is never certain, we do know that Chelsea and Marc sold their starter home (which was also located in the Flatiron District) back in 2016, for almost $6 million. So it looks like Chelsea is happy with her decision to move to The Whitman to raise her young family.
And with these kinds of modern luxuries, convenient amenities, and amazing views, we can understand if she never wants to move again!
