The rumor about Sasha being expelled
Barack Obama made history as the first Black president in America. Sadly, his race was something that many opponents tried to use against him in different ways, usually via vicious social media attacks. Eventually, online trolls tried the same tactic with Sasha Obama by creating a racially-charged rumor about her getting expelled.
In 2018, a rumor surfaced that Sasha Obama had a nasty argument with her principal, Chad Harris-Crane, after getting a bad grade in Biology. “You wouldn’t have me in here if I was white … I’m getting sick of you crackers,” she allegedly said. “Don’t you know who my dad is? I’ll have you fired if you wanna keep this [expletive] up.”
Of course, this never happened…not only is the name of the principal a fictional character from the soap opera Passions, but the rumor was generated by a website (America’s Last Line of Defense) that specializes in fake news (their motto is literally “Information you probably shouldn’t trust.” Unfortunately, far too many people believe this sketchy lie to this day!

Crazy rumors about Malia and Sasha’s secret parents
It’s difficult to pick the craziest rumor about Malia and Sasha Obama. If we had to choose, though, we’d go with the one about them not being the children of Barack and Michelle Obama. Since 2013, there have been vague rumors about these young women having different biological parents, and in 2022, this rumor gained new momentum with the more specific allegation that these are the children of Anita Blancard and Martin Nesbitt, family friends of the Obamas.
Needless to say, there’s no truth to this outlandish rumor. In fact, the closest thing to “proof” that online conspiracy theorists can offer is that you can’t easily find photos of Michelle Obama when she was pregnant. That’s far from a smoking gun, however, and this is yet another rumor created by those with an axe to grind with Barack Obama.
Malia’s pesky arrest rumors
While both of the Obama daughters have been subject to some insane rumors, Malia always seems to be at the center of the freakiest ones. That’s because she is the more established rule breaker of the family, having been busted smoking what appeared to be a marijuana joint at the Lollapalooza. However, according to the rumor mill, Malia escalated her rule-breaking so much that she landed in jail…twice!
In 2018, there was a rumor that she got arrested for buying $1,240 worth of cocaine from a man named Christopher Turk. The internet debunked this quickly, though: not only was there no proof of this ever happening, but her alleged drug dealer just happened to have the same name as a Scrubs character.
Earlier this year, an X post claimed that Malia Obama was arrested in Bel Air for shoplifting. The poster tried to rile people up by contrasting her wealth with the desperation it took to shoplift. However, considering there was never any proof (no arrest record, no witnesses, pretty much nothing outside of a social media post), the rumor quickly fell apart.

A secret Trump marriage plan?!
You don’t have to be an expert in American politics to know that the Trumps and the Obamas aren’t exactly friends, especially after Donald Trump did his best to amplify those birth certificate conspiracies several years back. However, TikTok eventually became convinced that the two families were going to bury the hatchet the old-fashioned way: with a wedding!
One TikTok user posted a video claiming that Barron Trump and Sasha Obama were going to get married. They went on and on about how much Barron admires her various qualities, causing many to believe we were going to have a real-life Romeo and Juliet story on our hands. Of course, nothing ever came of this; there was never proof of the original claim, and since then, both Barron and Malia have been romantically linked to other people.
