When parents have multiple children, it’s common for them to get asked who their favorite is. That’s always hard for parents to answer because they know they aren’t really supposed to have a favorite. And even if they do have one, they keep that information close to the vest because talking about it could ruin their relationship with one or more children.
However, Donald Trump has never been like most people, and he’s certainly not like most parents. He has five children, and over the years, he has never been shy about letting us know who his favorite is. However, recently, there have been some interesting indicators that he’s picked a new favorite.
So, who is Donald Trump’s favorite kid, and where do the rest of the children stand in his estimation? Keep reading to find out!
Tiffany always gets the cold shoulder
While it can sometimes be hard to figure out who Donald Trump’s favorite kid is, it’s not exactly hard to figure out who his least favorite child is. Tiffany Trump is his only daughter from ex-wife Marla Maples. After the two divorced, Tiffany moved with Marla to California, meaning that she grew up getting very little face time with her famous father.
When Donald Trump began running for president and after he won the 2016 election, Tiffany seemed to have a closer relationship with him, but not that close. As one of her friends dished to People in 2018, “Tiffany and her father have sometimes gone for months without speaking, and she went a very long time without seeing him.”
In dad’s case, absence didn’t make the heart grow fonder. At a 2018 Ohio initiative talk, Trump introduced his two daughters by saying “Speaking of a job well done, we have two of my daughters here today: Ivanka, who is working hard on infrastructure! Ivanka … and Tiffany!” Not exactly hard to tell which daughter he likes better, is it?

Barron: the son Donald Trump loves to brag about
In many ways, Barron Trump is the wild card when it comes to Donald’s favoritism. Dear old dad didn’t gush as much about him back in the day because Barron was so young and both Donald and Melania wanted to keep him out of the headlines. These days, Barron makes plenty of headlines for being so insanely tall, and there have been persistent rumors that Donald Trump is annoyed to have a kid who can tower over him.
However, Donald Trump seemingly loves to brag about his son’s height. He told the Impaulsive podcast “He’s a big boy, 6′ 9″. 6′ 9″, yeah. And I couldn’t get him to play basketball. He plays soccer. He’s a good athlete, too. Good student, good athlete. But he’s 6′ 9.” Practically beaming, Trump finished describing Barron by saying, “Good looking guy, but he is a tall one, there’s no question.”
Given how much Barron’s quick fist-pump at dad’s July 9 Florida campaign rally energized the crowd, he might be gaining more favor with Donald by the day.
Ivanka often seems to be Donald Trump’s favorite kid
On paper, Ivanka has always been Donald Trump’s favorite kid. In addition to a history of creepy remarks praising her body, Ivanka was notably the only Trump kid who got an official job in the White House. This apparent favoritism is seemingly clear to his other kids, too: at one point, Donald Trump, Jr. asked his dad “Which is your favorite Trump child, and why is it Ivanka?”
However, now that Donald Trump is back on the campaign trail for president, Ivanka has refused to join him, instead focusing on time with her own family. Between this and her apparent hesitation to support her father during his rather literal trials and tribulations, there now seems to be room for a new Trump kid to win dad’s favor.

Is Donald Trump, Jr. trying to be the new Ivanka?
Despite being the only kid to bear his name, Donald Trump, Jr. has never really been his dad’s favorite. That fact always seems much sadder when you consider how Junior is a relentless cheerleader for his dad and often seems like he would do anything for the barest crumb of praise.
That could be changing, though: the fact that Ivanka Trump has backed out of politically supporting her dad so much in favor of focusing on her own family, Donald Trump, Jr. may finally get his chance to shine. That is evidenced by the fact that Trump picked J.D. Vance as his running mate, a vice president choice that Junior had been championing.
Of course, as more and more controversy swirls around Vance, this endorsement may ultimately cost Junior his father’s favor.
Eric Trump: secretly dad’s new favorite?
There are some who think that Eric Trump has secretly become Donald’s new favorite kid. Last year, a source told The Washington Post that none of the children speak with Donald as much as Eric, someone who talks to his father several times throughout the day. On top of that, Eric’s wife Lara Trump has become the co-chair of the RNC, a woman Donald has previously described as being “dedicated to all that MAGA stands for.”
Some, though, speculate that Eric is the favorite not because of his great qualities but because Ivanka has backed away from the campaign, Barron is busy getting ready for college, and Tiffany has been the black sheep forever. That leaves Donald Trump to choose between Eric and Junior, and the former may simply be the best of two bad choices.
