Here are some numbers that will blow your mind: when Nancy Pelosi was Speaker of the House, she earned $223,500 a year. Now, most of us would kill for that kind of annual salary, but this is just a drop in the bucket to Pelosi’s overall net worth. You see, she is currently worth more than $250 million. It’s easy to see that she has become fabulously wealthy since becoming a prominent government official. And it’s even easier to see that it’s not her salary that is making her so insanely wealthy.
Where did Nancy Pelosi get all this money? From investments, of course. While she has made some solid pocket money from speaking engagements, the vast majority of her wealth comes from the stock market investments of her husband, Paul Pelosi. Having her husband do the investing helps create distance between their wealth and her political office. However, when they make huge profits (for example, making $24 million selling stocks at the tail end of 2024), most people assume that Nancy is using her knowledge of current and upcoming laws to maximize profit.
Some would call that a wise investment. Others (like Pelosi’s critics) have another name for that: insider trading.
Owning a luxury home and a luxury hotel
We’ve established that Nancy Pelosi has become fabulously rich since becoming a prominent politician. What, then, does she spend all her money on? For one thing, she has spent quite a chunk of change on her own luxury home. In 2007, Nancy and Paul paid $2.25 million for a four-bedroom home in Pacific Heights. These days, that home is worth upwards of $25 million, so you can consider that just one more wise investment on her part.
Speaking of wise investments, Nancy Pelosi and her husband are also partial owners of Auberge de Soleil, a Napa Valley hotel that tourists pay up to $2,000 a night to stay in. She has also invested in the Huntington Hotel as well as local office space. Between her existing wealth and these additional investments, it’s clear that Pelosi will continue to live large long after she has left office.

People often use the term “expensive taste” to describe someone’s penchant for pricey purchases. However, Nancy Pelosi literally has expensive taste buds. Or, at the very least, taste buds that crave expensive flavors. What expensive treat does this Congressional leader love to chow down on? Believe it or not, ice cream!
When she appeared on The Late Show with James Corden, Pelosi showed off that she keeps her freezer filled with Dove Bars and other tasty treats. But the real coup de grace is that she pays to have Jeni’s Ice Cream delivered to her house. As you might imagine, having ice cream delivered can be pricey, and she pays about $80 when she wants to have six pints delivered. However, given that she’s worth over a quarter of a billion dollars, it’s safe to say she can afford it!
