Earlier, we noted that Donald Trump’s hair was a source of fascination for decades, leading to headlines about his crazy coif. What, though, has made his hair so riveting for all these years? For one thing, he has been rocking a combover well past the point that this look went out of fashion. His brand of combed flat hair hasn’t really been in style since the ‘70s, but Trump just kept on rocking this look even after he became president.
One thing did eventually change, though: like many older men, Donald Trump decided to change his hair color in an attempt to look younger. On paper, his goal is to make the hair look like the iconic blonde mane he was sporting back in the ‘80s. But by choice or by accident, Trump has changed the color up on us, sometimes making his hair look brown. Other times, he bleaches it so intently that it looks more of a platinum color than blonde.
The result is an outdated hairstyle and follicles that just keep changing color. Even if you love the guy, it can be hard to take that hairdo seriously!

Proof that Trump’s famous hair is real
It’s no secret that Donald Trump is an elderly man. And many men end up losing their hair as they age; some just thin, and others lose their hair entirely. As for Trump, though, he still has a very full head of hair. Between this and the fact that Trump obviously cares deeply about his public image has led to speculation that his hair is fake, which might explain why it has looked so odd over the years. However, during his first presidential campaign, Trump proved this assumption wrong in the most unexpected way.
In 2016, Donald Trump was a guest on The Tonight Show, hosted by Jimmy Fallon. As part of a joke, Fallon said he wanted to do something “that’s not presidential;” with his guest’s permission, Fallon ruffled Trump’s hair. It was a cute moment that humanized Trump and seemingly normalized him as a presidential contender, especially for those who felt like his politics were too extreme.
While it didn’t hurt his career, this moment would go on to haunt Fallon, who was criticized by many for seemingly normalizing Trump’s politics. Later, he apologized for his actions. As for Trump, we’re wondering if he ever apologized to his kids for the crazy hair genes they inherited!
Trump kids’ childhood photo reveals weird hair
As we noted before, the Trump kids mostly have stylish hair these days. That’s particularly true of Ivanka Trump, who was once a model and whose hair is still fit for the catwalk. It turns out, though, that even she wasn’t immune to inheriting her father’s wild hair. And we know that thanks to a photo from the ‘80s that recently resurfaced online.
Eric Trump posted the above photo to Instagram back in 2023. He probably posted because it showcased a sweet moment of Donald Trump hovering over Ivanka, Eric, and Donald Trump, Jr. But most who see this image can’t help but note the downright weird hair choices that were going on. Eric and Junior each have bowl cuts that were out of fashion back then and look particularly egregious now. As for Ivanka, she has a lot of curls that are more than a bit unflattering; sure, her haircut is better than her brothers’ bowl cuts, but she looks much better with the straight hair she is now famous for.

Is Barron making his father’s hair mistakes?
That embarrassing ‘80s photo didn’t feature Barron Trump because he hadn’t been born yet. And after he was born, it looked like he was going to escape his family’s genetic hair curse. Earlier, though, Barron decided to change up his look. And based on his new ‘do, it’s clear that he was following in his father’s footsteps!
For Donald Trump’s inauguration, Barron decided to wear very slicked-back hair. In pictures and videos, he looked uncannily like Donald did back in the ‘80s. It’s possible that the young man was just showing solidarity with his dad on this important occasion. In more recent photos, Barron has seemingly ditched the slick look in favor of a casually scruffy look that, honestly, looks much better on the young college student.
