Music sensation Selena Gomez has developed her own makeup brand known as Rare Beauty. And Gomez was quite excited when Bille Eilish recently wore some Rare Beauty makeup during a cover photoshoot for Vanity Fair’s March issue.
At first glance, you might have trouble detecting the makeup. It is very subtle, especially compared to Eilish’s elegantly-long nails and vibrant green hair. But over on Instagram, Eilish’s makeup artist for the shoot confirmed that she was wearing Rare Beauty makeup.
Sadly, we don’t know exactly which Rare Beauty products were used for the shoot. That’s bad news for anyone trying to steal Eilish’s iconic look from the cover. One thing we do know, though, is that Gomez was hyped to hear the news!
In a post to her Instagram Story, Selena Gomez wrote, “Icon @billieeilish is wearing @rarebeauty on the cover of vanity fair!!” And she continued, writing that she was “Low key freaking out.. 😊 You look stunning!”
How does Eilish feel about the makeup brand? So far, she hasn’t responded to Gomez or specifically commented on the makeup. But she did comment on the photoshoot itself, writing on Instagram that it was one of her “favorite shoots.” Given how many photoshoots the young star has been a part of, this is high praise indeed!
Part of what makes this whole thing so wholesome is that Gomez and Eilish are already big fans of each other. In an appearance on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 Radio show on Apple Music, Gomez said that she “sobbed” when she first heard Eilish sing “Everything I Wanted.”
As for Billie Eilish, she and her brother admitted to Rolling Stone that the Wizards of Waverly Place theme song (sung by Selena Gomez) helped to inspire the melody to “Bad Guy,” the song that won the 2020 Grammy for Song of the Year.
Overall, all of this serves as a fun reminder that celebrities are fans too. And like Selena Gomez, they reserve the right to freak out when they hear that other celebs have been inspired by their work and their talent.
Perhaps a musical collaboration is around the corner? Considering that Gomez and Eilish have both worked with Billie’s brother Finneas O’Connell to produce music, it certainly seems like a possibility!
