It looks like Jennifer Lopez is finding comfort in an unlikely source after ending her two-year engagement with Alexander Rodriguez earlier this month.
According to a source speaking to People, Lopez’s ex-husband Marc Anthony has been a “comforting” presence while she is in the Dominican Republic filming her upcoming movie Shotgun Wedding.
“Jennifer and Marc Anthony have a great relationship,” the source said. “Having Marc around while she has had to work abroad has been very comforting for Jennifer.”
Lopez and Anthony were married in 2004 and separated in 2011, before finalizing their divorce in 2014. They are parents to 13-year-old twins Emme and Max.
The source noted, “Jennifer is doing well. She is still filming in the Dominican Republic. The kids have visited her and they make her the happiest.”
Lopez and Rodriguez called off their engagement last week, after denying rumors they were breaking up in March. “We have realized we are better as friends and look forward to remaining so,” they said in a joint statement announcing their split.
But according to sources speaking to People, Lopez ended the relationship because she couldn’t “trust” Rodriguez.
“There are too many issues that are unresolved,” a friend of Lopez’s said. “She has been pretty miserable and didn’t think it was in her best interests to stay with Alex.”
According to another insider, it was Lopez’s fear of infidelity rather than actual cheating that caused the split: “She won’t tolerate the fear of it in the air between them.”
That source further said that quarantining during the COVID-19 pandemic put a strain on their relationship. “They both liked spending more time together as a family, but it was difficult to keep that special spark when they saw each other every day.”
