Emma Roberts gave birth to her baby boy Rhodes on Sunday, December 27. Now, nearly two weeks later, she has shared the first picture of the baby she and fellow actor Garrett Hedlund created.
Roberts shared the picture via Instagram. In the picture, she is kicking back on a bench and rocking an orange outfit while holding the baby. And she captioned the picture with, “Thank you 2020 for getting one thing right. Our bright light Rhodes Robert Hedlund.”
Her fans have been eagerly awaiting this pic ever since she began sharing photos of her baby bump on Instagram. And she even made history by posing pregnant on the cover of Cosmopolitan for its December/ January issue, which was a first for the magazine.
It’s been a whirlwind romance for Roberts and Hedlund. They began dating back in March 2019. She announced her pregnancy via Instagram in August 2020 via a photo of herself and Hedlund. The photo is captioned, “Me… and my two favorite guys.”
The pregnancy was not that easy for Roberts, however. In a November 2020 interview with Cosmopolitan, she opened up about dealing with endometriosis that threatened her pregnancy. According to Roberts, doctors told her, “You should probably freeze your eggs or look into other options.”
Fortunately, she found strength in conversations with other women. At first, she described feeling “like I had done something wrong.” But by “opening up to other women,” she discovered a “new world of conversation about endometriosis, infertility, miscarriages, fear of having kids.”
These conversations gave hope and relief to Roberts. “I was so grateful to find out I was not alone in this. I hadn’t done anything ‘wrong’ after all.” And the entire story has a happy ending: “It sounds cheesy, but the moment that I stopped thinking about it, we got pregnant.”
Fans of Roberts and her beautiful new baby can likely look forward to more pictures of baby Rhodes and Roberts’ growing family. Her willingness to document both her pregnancy struggles and triumphs have been inspirational to countless women, and we can look forward to learning more from her and her husband as they navigate something much more difficult than acting: being parents for the first time!
