On Sunday, it was reported that Die Hard star Bruce Willis was asked to leave a pharmacy for refusing to wear a face mask. Photographs circulated online of the actor entering and leaving a Los Angeles Rite Aid without wearing a mask. Now, Willis has issued a public apology for violating the COVID-19 safety rules of California.
Willis issued a statement to People calling his action “an error in judgment.” In the same statement, the actor said, “Be safe out there everyone, and let’s continue to mask up.”
Previously, PageSix reported a witness claiming that Willis was asked to leave the pharmacy because he was not wearing a mask. This is in violation of the state’s COVID-19 guidelines, which state that “everyone in California must wear a mask or face covering when outside of their home, with limited exceptions.”
Willis’s maskless incident comes at a time when Los Angeles COVID-19 cases are out of control. The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health reported 14,482 new cases that day.
In April 2020, Willis quarantined with ex-wife Demi Moore as well as their grown children Rumer, Tallulah, and Scout in Idaho. Tallulah posted a photo on Instagram of the family quarantining together in matching pajamas. A month later, his wife Heming Willis and their daughters moved from Los Angeles to Idaho to join together in what People called “one happy family.”
