Saturday Night Live has revealed its upcoming slate of hosts and musical guests when it returns for Season 47 on Oct. 2, and not everyone is happy.
Debra Messing is slamming SNL‘s decision to have Kim Kardashian West host on Oct. 9.
“Why Kim Kardashian?” the Will & Grace star opined on Twitter. “I mean, I know she is a cultural icon, but SNL has hosts, generally, who are performers who are there to promote a film, TV show, or album launch. Am I missing something?”
Messing, 53, isn’t afraid to start beef with other celebs online. She famously got into a Twitter feud with Susan Sarandon over politics in 2018. However, she may be incorrect about Kardashian not having an album or TV show to promote.
While Kardashian, 40, is in the midst of a divorce from her estranged husband Kanye West, that has not prevented her from helping to promote his latest album Donda, which dropped on Aug. 29.
Also, Kardashian’s follow-up series to Keeping Up With the Kardashians, which ended in June, is expected to launch on Hulu in late 2021. Plus, the Skims founder always has her shapewear line to promote. And her KKW Beauty line, which temporarily shut down in August, will be coming back at some point under a rebranding.
SNL returns on Oct. 2 with host Owen Wilson and musical guest Kacey Musgraves. Acclaimed singer Halsey will be joining Kardashian on Oct. 9. No Time to Die star Rami Malek and musical guest Young Thug are set for Oct. 16.
The variety show ends a rare four-week run of uninterrupted episodes with cast alum and Ted Lasso star Jason Sudeikis hosting and musical guest Brandi Carlile on Oct. 23.
