Kanye West unfollows Kim Kardashian on Instagram as Drake Pushes ‘Donda’ to No. 2

As of Monday, Sept. 13, Kanye West no longer follows Kim Kardashian on Instagram, Page Six reports.

Kanye’s Instagram account currently shows he is only following 12 people. Kanye previously unfollowed Kim and her sisters in June.

Despite the fact that the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star filed for divorce in February, Kanye’s move to unfollow Kim again is somewhat surprising. Kanye and Kim had been putting up a united front in public recently.

Kim showed up to all three of Kanye’s listening parties for his latest album Donda, which was finally released on Aug 29. She even took part in the performance for the most recent one at Chicago’s Soldier Field, where she donned a wedding dress and pretended to “remarry” Kanye. Kim and Kanye were seen holding hands after the event.

Kanye even reportedly started telling people he and Kim were back together, but an insider claimed to Page Six that no one believed him. The source also claimed that Kanye and Kim’s show of solidarity was nothing more than a publicity stunt to drive album sales.

“Kanye has been telling other rappers that he and Kim are back together, but everybody knows that isn’t true,” the insider revealed. “The real story is that Kanye wants to beat Drake in record sales, and he is putting on a big show of performance art to grab all the media attention.”

Kanye’s efforts to promote Donda seemed to pay off. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 on Sept. 5 with 309,000 equivalent album units sold, making it the biggest release week of 2021 at the time.

However, today Billboard reported that Drake nearly doubled Kanye’s Donda sales with the release of his Certified Lover Boy album, which sold 613,000 units in its first week and pushed Donda to No. 2.

Perhaps Kanye unfollowed Kim because her publicity failed to help him beat Drake?
