Top 10 Moments From Harry & Meghan’s Royal Wedding

It seemed that the entire world tuned in to the momentous wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on Saturday. Everyone loves a fairy tale, and it certainly seemed that the stunning wedding was a dream come true for all involved.

Though it was hard to pick just 10, here are our top moments from the historic royal wedding.

The Celebs Arrive

Everyone expected this to be a star-studded event, and they weren’t disappointed. Among the celebs who attended were Oprah Winfrey, Serena Williams, Idris Elba, George and Amal Clooney, David and Victoria Beckham, and Elton John in his signature pink sunglasses. The ladies all wore gorgeous dresses with inventive hats and the men mostly turned up in sedate dark suits.

The Wedding Dress

Meghan’s dress was the subject of much speculation leading up to the wedding, and she stunned everyone when she arrived at the church in a custom-made stunner by Clare Waight Keller for Givenchy. The ¾ sleeve dress was simple and elegant with a timeless boat neck, long statement train and a sleek silhouette that was all refined modern beauty. It was complemented by a diamond bandeau tiara borrowed from Queen Elizabeth herself.

The Walk Down the Aisle

Because her own father could not attend the ceremony due to health conditions, Meghan was walked down the aisle by her soon-to-be father-in-law Prince Charles. This touching moment had many in the audience in tears as the two showed obvious respect and affection for each other.

“You Look Amazing”

Guests and spectators weren’t the only ones impressed by Meghan’s lovely appearance. Prince Harry was visibly affected when he saw his intended for the first time on their big day and mouthed “You look amazing” to her when she took her place at his side. Harry had a personal hand in Meghan’s outfit of choice as he picked out the Forget-Me-Nots that were included in her bouquet – a tribute to his later mother Princess Diana.

Harry Shows His Nerves

In what will be a moment remembered for years to come, Harry showed how nervous he was by muttering “I’m shitting it” to his bride as they stood by the alter. The expression, British slang for being anxious, created a moment that instantly went viral and made fans appreciate the honesty of the prince even more. It was just one more way that Harry bucked tradition and showed that he’s committed to showing his personality and authenticity at every turn.

The Mother of the Bride Proudly Looks On

Meghan is very close to her mother Doria Ragland and the bond was visible throughout the ceremony. From their arrival together in the Rolls Royce to the moment they exited the church, it was clear to see that Meghan’s mother was as excited for her daughter’s big day as Meghan herself. Ms. Ragland teared up during the ceremony and was brimming with pride when she took the hand of Prince Charles so the two of them could witness the signing of the register.

The Stunning Rendition of “Stand By Me”

This was not a stodgy wedding by any means, and this was further proven when Karen Gibson and The Kingdom Choir performed a heartbreaking rendition of Ben E. King’s “Stand By Me.” Many believed that including the song by the predominantly black choir symbolized a new era for the royal family and was just another way to welcome Meghan into the fold.

A Kiss on the Stairs

After they were pronounced man and wife, Harry and Meghan emerged from the church to cheers, clapping and merriment. They gave everyone a treat when they stopped on the stairs and Meghan could be seen asking, “Do we kiss?” Harry responded with “Yeah,” and the two shared their first public smooch as a married couple.

The Royal Children Help Out

Meghan couldn’t choose just one maid of honor, so she made the decision to have both royal children and those close to the couple help out in the ceremony instead as bridesmaids and page boys. Princess Charlotte and Prince George got roles as well as the couple’s goddaughters Florence van Custem, Remi Litt, Ivy Mulroney and Zalie Warren. Rounding out the adorable group were John and Brian Mulroney and Prince Harry’s godson Jasper Dyer.

The Post-Wedding Carriage Ride

The fairy tale was complete when the newly married couple exited the chapel grounds in a horse-drawn carriage. The ride took them through the streets of Windsor so well-wishers could greet them and see the new royal couple in person. As they made their way slowly through the city, it was clear that this day would be one that would go down in history.

We’re all suckers for a good royal wedding and Saturday’s event lived up to everyone expectations. From the sweet moments to the unexpected ones, this is a wedding that will stay in everyone’s memories for years to come.
